Opening Keynote: Keeping the Professional Mentally Healthy

Governors Room (Lower Level)

Maintaining good mental health for professionals is a concern for many programs because of the multi-roes they are asked to take on and the complicated lives and personalities found in most of the families they serve. This presentation addresses multiple ways for professionals to assess their own emotions and reactions to intense human interaction. Emotional projection, the ability to self-soothe, radical acceptance, synthetic happiness, and feelings of powerlessness will all be discussed as self-help tools that are key in avoiding “burnout” and internal conflict (stress).
